Course Overview
This course on Positive Handling in Schools is intended to help participants make decisions when confronted with the potential for physical interventions. When a child poses an immediate threat to himself or others, Positive Handling focuses on the positive de-escalation of the behaviour. It only uses physical interventions that respect the child’s dignity and rights and are consistent with best practice safeguarding rules.

Learning Outcomes
After completing this course, students will be able to:
- Know how to defuse a tense situation with a teenager or young child.
- Discover ways to stop children from developing trauma or aggression.
- Know all government guidelines and laws pertaining to childcare practices.
- Understand how to make sensible choices in pressure-filled situations.
- Learn what “reasonable force” is and when it is appropriate to restrain someone physically.
Assessment and Certification
At the end of the course, you will be required to sit for an online multiple-choice test. Your test will be assessed automatically and immediately so that you will instantly know whether you have been successful. After you have successfully passed the final exam, you will be able to order an Accredited Certificate of Achievement at an additional cost of £19 for a PDF copy and £29 for an original print copy sent to you by post or for both £39.
