Gain an internship

Internship is a fantastic way to gain some valuable work experience. When it comes to gaining the almost real work experience, nothing beats internship. While some interns get paid, sometimes the companies are too lucrative to even say no for a free internship since money is not so important when it comes to learning work as a student. There are many workplaces that take student interns part time or over summer. It’s especially important to remember that no one is going to hand you a position, so it’s up to you to go and get what you want.

Work as a part-time employee

Students all over the world take part in part-time jobs. It is a matter of self-finance and the feeling of becoming financially independent. There are many jobs which are considered to be student jobs, like waitressing, retail, or call center positions. Working part time, you will be earning some extra cash, which is always useful for a student! Not just that, you will gain valuable work experience, which will definitely add to your CV and give you an edge over other students when it comes to employability.

Take part in volunteering experience

Volunteering is a great way to gain work experience. The aspects that a student can gain from volunteering is endless. This includes: communication skills, positive work ethics, soft skills, teamwork and many more. There are a whole range of places in which you can volunteer, especially if you live in a town or city. For example, most animal shelters need help, and are always on the look for new volunteers for a few hours a week. You can also volunteer your time at a charity shop, which will provide some excellent transferable skills such as communicative skills and team work. At the end of the experience, you will be definitely able to reflect the skills within yourself. Recruiters love skill and experience combined.

Keep enjoying your hobbies

By hobbies, we all mean about the tasks that we all love to do in our free time. In the beginning, we do not really think of hobbies as work. And some say, if you can turn your hobbies into your work, then you are the happiest working person. It’s not just work experience that will enhance your CV, there are many things you can do in your spare time that will get you noticed too. For instance, blog writing is a very useful experience, and it will certainly look fantastic on your CV. Some positions will even list blog writing as preferred experience, so it’s definitely a worthwhile pursuit. Just like that there are plenty more useful hobbies which are definitely worth a try if you are interested in them. Recruiters love to find interesting candidates.
